Two premium looks. One material that outlives the real thing.

Enviroshake makes two composite roofing systems we install here: Enviroshake, engineered to look like split cedar shake, and Enviroslate, engineered to look like natural slate. Both give you the high-end look with a design life that beats the natural material in the coastal climate that punishes it.

Enviroshake: the cedar shake look, without the cedar problems.

  • Real cedar is a maintenance contract. In Fraser Valley shade, cedar shake needs moss treatment, periodic washing and eventual replacement in 20 to 30 years. Enviroshake is engineered for roughly a 50-year design life with none of that.
  • It weathers like cedar, not plastic. The material starts with cedar-toned variation and silvers and weathers over the first seasons into a natural, non-uniform look. No plastic sheen.
  • Heritage and character homes. Where a strata, municipality or design review wants the shake aesthetic without fire risk, Enviroshake is the standard answer.
  • Wind, impact and fire performance well beyond what real cedar can offer, with a transferable warranty to back it.

About Our Shake Installs

Enviroshake colours and finishes.

Enviroshake ships in a small, deliberate palette. The material's own weathering does the rest: each finish starts varied and mellows toward a natural silvered cedar look over the first couple of seasons.

Because Enviroshake weathers rather than holding its installed colour, judge it from weathered samples, not fresh ones. We bring both to the inspection.

Enviroslate: the slate look, at a third of the weight.

  • Real slate is heavy and expensive. Natural slate often needs structural reinforcement before it can even go on. Enviroslate weighs about one third as much, so most homes take it on the existing framing, and it costs a fraction of the real thing installed.
  • Moulded from real slate. The tiles are formed from 3D scans of natural slate, so you get the true stone texture and edge grain, not a stamped pattern that repeats down the roof.
  • It holds its colour. Unlike the shake, Enviroslate keeps the stone tones you choose rather than weathering to silver, from Stone Grey through Onyx Black to the deeper premium colours.
  • Built for coastal weather. Class 4 impact rating, wind performance rated to 180 mph, and no rot, mould or insect damage, all under a lifetime warranty.

Ask About a Slate Look

Enviroshake and Enviroslate questions

Which one is right for my house, shake or slate?
If your home reads as west-coast cedar, heritage or craftsman, Enviroshake keeps that character. If it reads as European, French country, Tudor or modern, the crisp lines of Enviroslate usually suit it better. We will bring both to the inspection and hold them against your house so you can see it, not guess.
How much does an Enviroshake or Enviroslate roof cost?
Both sit in premium territory, roughly between high-end architectural shingle and standing seam metal: usually $22,000 to $40,000 for a single-family home depending on size, pitch and detail work. You get a fixed-price quote after we inspect, never a guess over the phone.
How does this compare to the real material?
Real cedar here runs 20 to 30 years and needs moss treatment along the way. Real slate is beautiful but heavy and costly, and often needs the roof structure reinforced first. Both Enviroshake and Enviroslate are engineered to outlast the natural material with far less weight, cost or upkeep.
Will it look fake?
No. Enviroshake is moulded from weathered hand-split shakes and silvers naturally over its first seasons. Enviroslate is moulded from 3D scans of natural slate for true stone texture. From the street, neither reads as composite.
What maintenance do they need?
Gutter cleaning and the occasional rinse, like any roof. No moss regime, no sealing, no board or tile replacement cycle.
Are other profiles and colours available?
Yes. Enviroshake offers shake and shingle profiles, and Enviroslate offers standard, premium and multi-tone colours plus custom blends. If you have a specific look in mind, ask and we will source it.
