Water always wins. Unless it's managed.

Decks, balconies, planters, foundations: anywhere water sits or seeps, membrane work decides whether you get decades or a rot discovery. We waterproof like roofers, because we are.

Surfaces we keep dry.

  • Sundecks & balconies. Torch-on or liquid-applied membranes with correct slope to drains, door threshold integration and railing boot detailing.
  • Roof decks & patios. Membrane first, pavers or decking on pedestals above it, so the waterproofing is serviceable without demolition.
  • Below-grade walls. Foundation damp-proofing upgrades, drainage membrane and perimeter considerations for chronically wet basements and crawlspaces.
  • Planters & transitions. The awkward junctions between materials where most envelope failures actually begin.
Waterproof membrane over a flat roof section

Why deck membranes fail early here.

Three culprits, in order of frequency:

  • Flat or back-sloped decks. Water that can't reach the drain sits in seams and finds the screws.
  • Door thresholds too low. Membrane can't turn up under a door that sits below the membrane line, so every rain tests the seal.
  • Railing posts screwed through membrane with no boot or blocking detail. Each post is a leak waiting for its first big storm.

Fixing those means rebuilding the deck assembly properly, which is exactly the kind of structural-plus-membrane work our crews handle end to end, carpentry included.

Your deck is telling you something.

  • Bubbling, cracking or peeling membrane surface
  • Staining or rot on soffits below the deck
  • Water appearing at the door track during rain
  • Musty smell in the room below after storms
  • Membrane past 12 to 15 years old (typical service life)

How long does deck waterproofing last?
Quality torch-on or liquid systems deliver 12 to 20 years depending on traffic, UV exposure and detailing quality. We quote the assembly that matches how you actually use the deck.
Can you re-membrane without rebuilding the whole deck?
Sometimes. If framing, slope and thresholds are sound, membrane replacement alone works. When slope or threshold height is wrong, patching the membrane just resets the same failure clock.
How much does deck waterproofing cost?
Small balconies often run $3,000 to $8,000; larger sundecks with framing corrections $10,000 to $25,000+. Fixed-price quote after inspection, always.
What about vinyl deck membranes?
Vinyl sheet is a valid option for some decks and we install it where it suits. For exposed Lower Mainland weather with complex details, torch-on typically outlasts it.
Do you warranty the work?
Yes, written workmanship warranty on all waterproofing, plus manufacturer material coverage. Same standard as our roofs.
