VELUX skylights.

The global benchmark in skylights. When a skylight goes into a roof we stand behind for decades, it is usually a VELUX, because their glass units, flashing kits and seals are engineered as one system.

The system case.

  • Glass, not plastic. Laminated low-E glass standard: no yellowing, no hazing, better insulation and UV control than acrylic domes ever manage.
  • Flashing kits matched to roofing material. Shingle, shake and metal flashing systems designed for the exact roof around them. Leak-proof installs are a kit problem, not a caulk problem.
  • Solar venting with rain sensors. Fresh air on demand, closed automatically when rain starts, no wiring required.
  • Blinds, controls and parts available for decades after install, plus an installer program whose warranties require certified workmanship like ours.

Which VELUX unit fits your room.

Fixed glass (FS)

The workhorse. Sealed insulated glass, clean interior frame, maximum daylight per dollar. The default choice where ventilation already exists.

Solar venting (VSS)

Opens at the touch of a remote, powered entirely by its own solar panel, closes itself when the rain sensor trips. Ideal over kitchens and bathrooms.

Manual venting (VS)

Opens by hand rod or remote where power is not wanted. Same glass and flashing quality as the rest of the range.

Sun tunnel (TGR)

A rigid reflective tube that pipes daylight into hallways, closets and baths where a full skylight cannot fit. Installed in hours, not days.

Sizing, placement and glazing depend on roof pitch, orientation and room use. That is inspection conversation, not guesswork from a brochure.

How much does a VELUX skylight cost installed?
A single fixed unit with proper flashing usually lands $2,800 to $4,500 installed; solar venting models $4,000 to $6,500; sun tunnels roughly $1,800 to $3,000. Interior finishing is quoted separately. Fixed-price quote before we start.
Can you replace an old leaking skylight?
Yes, and it is most of our skylight work. Modern VELUX units swap into older curb or deck-mount openings with new flashing, and the leak history ends there.
Do skylights leak?
A properly flashed modern unit does not. The leaks people know come from old acrylic domes, reused curbs and improvised flashing. We flash to VELUX kits against the surrounding roofing, every time.
VELUX vs Columbia skylights?
Both are excellent and we install both. VELUX leads on integrated features: solar operation, rain sensors, blinds and smart-home controls. Columbia leads on value for straightforward fixed units. We quote what fits the opening and budget.
What about condensation?
Modern double-glazed units with warm-edge spacers largely solve it. Bathrooms still benefit from the venting models so humidity leaves the room instead of finding cold glass.
